SBP Reported Increase in Reserves on March 6, 2026: Reserves Rose to Almost $16.5 Billion Due to Inflow of $41 million
According to Pro Pakistani, SBP reported an increase in reserves in the week that ended on March 6, 2026. Reserves neared $16.5 billion after a 0.3% increase in week-on-week basis due to a $41 million inflow.
The actual figures reported are $16.341 billion as compared to $16.300 billion in the week earlier.
Implications are as follows: An increase in reserves strengthens the Pakistani Rupee (PKR), enhances external sector stability and improves the country’s capacity to meet external debt obligations. This growth allows policies that support economic growth to come into fruition.
Sustainability remains to be a question as Pakistan heavily relies on external loans for much of its economic financing.
