Google Intends To Compete With Anthropic And Open AI By Launching Gemini App To Apple’s Mac
According to TechCrunch, Google is set to launch Gemini app natively to Apple’s Mac in order to compete with existing Anthropic and OpenAI apps that have already previously existed in Mac.
Mac users can now quickly open up Gemini without the need to switch tabs with the simple press of option + space buttons. In addition to this, the new Gemini app will also allow users to flexibly seek an answer and then get back to work immediately. The new Gemini app will allow screenshots, local files and basically anything to be uploaded so long as it helps the user with their current task.
Lastly, the new Gemini app will also feature Nano Banana and Veo, with Nano Banana being used to generate images and Veo being used to generate videos. The native macOS app is available to all Gemini users on macOS versions 15 and up, globally, starting April 15th. It’s available for download at gemini.google/mac.
