Iran Hit US Installations In Jordan, Kuwait, And Bahrain With Overnight Strikes As Patriot Missile Defence Systems Failed At Alarming Rates, A US Radar Station In Bahrain Was Confirmed Destroyed, PPI Inflation Hit 6.5%; Its Highest Since 2022 And Trump Floated Seizing Kharg Island And Iranian Oil Infrastructure Before Reversing Course
According to The Guardian, MS NOW and Reuters, Thursday June 11 delivered one of the most volatile single days of the US-Iran conflict. President Trump posted on Truth Social that the United States would launch “bigger” and “more powerful” military action on Iran that night; a third attack that would have marked a significant escalation. He also floated the possibility of seizing Kharg Island and taking control of Iranian oil infrastructure.
Iran’s overnight strikes hit five US military bases across Jordan, Kuwait, and Bahrain with Patriot missile defence systems reported as failing at alarming rates. A US long-range radar station in Bahrain was confirmed destroyed.
Hours after the threatened escalation, Trump reversed on Truth Social, writing that talks with the Islamic Republic had “been brought to the highest level of Iranian leadership and approved.” A senior Iranian official linked to the talks subsequently told MS NOW that Iran had not yet agreed to any memorandum of understanding or framework.
The conflict’s domestic economic toll was also sharpening. The Producer Price Index printed at 6.5% year-over-year; the highest level since November 2022, driven largely by oil supply disruption. Iran placed Elon Musk’s regional assets on its target list. The UAE and Iran held their first high-level security meeting since the conflict began. The Pentagon evacuated portions of its own building due to a hazmat air quality incident on Thursday morning.
