Ministry of Interior Closes Section of Al Markhiya Street Near Al Hammam Interchange in Al Gharrafa for Road Works Until July 18
The Peninsula Qatar reports that Qatar’s Ministry of Interior announced a temporary closure of a section of Al Markhiya Street until Saturday, July 18, 2026, to facilitate road works, with the affected section located near the Al Hammam Interchange in the Al Gharrafa area.
The Closure Follows a Staggered Overnight Schedule, Running Longest on Fridays From 2:00 AM to 10:00 AM
The ministry confirmed the closure will follow a set schedule: Sunday to Thursday from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM, Friday from 2:00 AM to 10:00 AM, and Saturday from 2:00 AM to 7:00 AM. The Friday window is notably longer, likely to take advantage of reduced weekend traffic during the Gulf’s day of rest.
Surrounding Roads Remain Open as Authorities Direct Motorists to an Approved Traffic Diversion Plan
The ministry confirmed that surrounding roads will remain open to traffic as indicated in the approved traffic diversion plan, and advised motorists to plan their journeys in advance, use alternative routes where necessary, and follow directional signs and traffic instructions during the closure period.
Three weeks of nightly closures for road works that should, eventually, make the daily commute smoother. Worth marking the dates if Al Markhiya is part of your regular route.
