Black Flag Resynced Confirms Xbox Series X 4K 60FPS Mode Ahead of July 9 Launch

Ubisoft Confirms Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced Runs Upscaled 4K at 30, 40, and 60FPS on Xbox Series X With Extended Ray Tracing

Pure Xbox reports that Ubisoft has confirmed the full resolution and frame rate specifications for Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced on Xbox Series X and S, with just over a week remaining until the remake’s July 9 release.

Xbox Series X Offers Three Graphics Modes at Upscaled 4K While Series S Runs 1620p Upscaled at a Fixed 30FPS

The Xbox Series X version offers three distinct modes spanning 30FPS, 40FPS, and 60FPS, all rendering at 2160p (4K) upscaled, with both the balanced and fidelity modes featuring an “extended” level of ray tracing. The Xbox Series S, by comparison, runs at a fixed 1620p upscaled resolution with a 30FPS frame rate and a “standard” use of ray tracing.

The Remake Adds a Physically Based Water System, Micropolygon Geometry, and Strand-Based Hair Rendering for Edward Kenway

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced is a ground-up rebuild featuring fully dynamic ray-traced lighting that responds in real time to weather and time of day, alongside a new micropolygon geometry pipeline that continuously adjusts model detail based on distance.

The ocean and ship systems have been completely overhauled with a physically based water rendering system, adding tessellation, volumetric foam, and dynamic bubble effects. Performance has been modernised across PS5, PS5 Pro, and Xbox Series X with a 60FPS mode, and the open world now streams without loading screens when entering major cities.

Twelve years after the original, Black Flag’s remake gives players the choice console gamers have wanted for a decade: 4K fidelity or buttery 60FPS, finally without compromise. Check out our previous coverage of gaming and Xbox news here.
