CM Maryam Presides Over Digital Automation Review. e-Procurement Processes Rs6 Trillion In Purchases And 1.29 Million Tenders. e-Filing Saves Rs9.1m. Revenue Reaches Rs1.137bn
According to Dawn, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally launched “government-to-government, government-to-business and government-to-citizen” paperless services on August 14, 2026, presiding over an online meeting to review digitalisation and automation progress with Punjab Information Technology Board Chairman Faisal Yousaf.
The CM said Punjab had become the first province in Pakistan to establish e-FOAS, e-Procurement, e-Pay, e-Auction, OneMap, HRMIS and a data warehouse. She directed the PITB to pursue paperless automation software imports and ordered continuous applicant feedback. “We want to save people from the inconvenience of visiting government offices for even minor tasks,” she said, adding that anonymous digital service delivery would help eliminate corruption.
The briefing revealed that 6,000 systems had been connected with the PITB’s central system, while 600 organisations had been digitally integrated through e-FOAS. The e-filing system had issued 176,173 notices and generated Rs9.1 million in savings.
Punjab’s province-wide e-procurement system now connects 25,000-plus suppliers, has processed digital purchases worth Rs6 trillion and handled 1.29 million tenders — resulting in savings of Rs1.3 million. Revenue collected through digital transactions has reached Rs1.137 billion.
The numbers are real. The question is whether Punjab’s digital infrastructure can scale without the institutional quality that makes technology work.
