Launch Held August 27 At Boustead’s 50th Anniversary Event In Bandar Seri Begawan 120 Guests Including Japan’s Ambassador To Brunei Boustead Sold ~1,200 Suzuki Vehicles In FY2025 Giving 9.5% Market Share
Pak Suzuki Motor Company has made automotive history, exporting 660cc Japanese-specification mini-vehicles to Brunei in what Suzuki Motor Corporation confirmed on August 27 is the first time any overseas Suzuki production base has exported vehicles matching the exact body dimensions and engine displacement of Japan’s domestic kei-car class.
The launch took place at an event at the Airport Mall Atrium in Bandar Seri Begawan celebrating the 50th anniversary of Boustead Sdn. Bhd., Suzuki’s official Brunei distributor, attended by approximately 120 guests including Yutaka Kikuta, Japan’s Ambassador to Brunei, and Suzuki Managing Officer Masafumi Harano.
The two models being exported are the Suzuki Alto hatchback and the Suzuki Every van, both powered by Suzuki’s 660cc R06A engine. Pakistan has been assembling the Alto since 2019 and added the Every in 2024. Both now join an existing Brunei lineup that includes the Jimny, Ertiga and Fronx.
Boustead sold approximately 1,200 Suzuki vehicles in fiscal year 2025, representing close to 9.5 per cent of Brunei’s car market. Boustead also announced plans to begin handling Suzuki motorcycles including the Hayabusa, GSX-S1000GX and GSX-8R with sales commencing around autumn 2026.
