SpaceX made history on October 1, 2026, when its Crew-13 Dragon capsule docked with the International Space Station in just eight hours; the fastest transit ever achieved by any American entity, including NASA. The Weather Channel
The four-member crew launched from Cape Canaveral Space Force Station aboard the Dragon capsule, nicknamed “Lucky,” which carried a crocheted golden dragon mascot with a four-leaf clover.
Commander Jessica Watkins (NASA) became the first Black woman to lead a crewed mission to orbit. She was joined by pilot Luke Delaney (NASA), Joshua Kutryk of the Canadian Space Agency, and Russian cosmonaut Sergey Teteryatnikov; both making their first spaceflights.
The mission marks SpaceX’s 13th crewed NASA launch. Crew-13 replaces four astronauts who have been aboard the ISS since February, taking over for a six-month stay. Their launch had been delayed three weeks due to a fuel system leak in the Dragon capsule.
“Four of the luckiest humans on or off planet Earth,” said Commander Watkins at launch. Read our previous article on Space related news here.
