The US And Iran Have Agreed To A Fragile 2-Week Ceasefire Due To Pakistan’s Successful Mediating Role. Iran Has Agreed To Reopen The Strait Of Hormuz With Safe Passage Coordinated By Its Armed Forces
According to Al Jazeera, the US and Iran have agreed to a two week ceasefire as both parties have agreed to pause bombing and violence that have rocked the Middle East region. The fragile ceasefire came with many conditions according to President of the US, Donald Trump. Notably, a complete reopening of the Strait of Hormuz for everyone, to which Iran has agreed.
Furthermore, Iran has agreed to reopen the Strait of Hormuz on condition that the safe passage will coordinated with Armed Forces. So far, both Donald Trump and Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi have credited and thanked Pakistan’s continuous role in mediating a successful ceasefire.
In addition to this, the National Security Council of Iran has stated that talks with the US will begin in Islamabad on Friday for negotiations amid ceasefire. The US has also received a 10-point proposal from Iran, to which Donald Trump has credited it ”workable basis on which to negotiate”.
