Seven years ago, Doha opened a metro system. Today, it stands as one of the most reliable urban rail networks in the world.
According to The Peninsula, Qatar Rail announced that the Doha Metro has facilitated travel for nearly 292 million passengers since its launch, operating across 37 stations that serve key destinations throughout the country.
The numbers behind the network are remarkable. The metro has maintained an average performance rating of 99.83 percent across regularity, punctuality and availability while recording a total accident frequency rate of just 0.013 percent across the entire network.
That commitment to safety and reliability is reflected in a 99.9 percent customer satisfaction rate that Doha Metro has sustained consistently over the years.
Accessibility has been equally strong. The network is supported by 10 MetroExpress and 70 MetroLink routes, extending connectivity well beyond the metro stations themselves.
The Doha Metro has also served as the backbone of major event transport, supporting commuters across more than 40 events held in Qatar since its launch, including the FIFA World Cup 2022.
