Apple Is About To Have Its Biggest iPhone Year Since The Original. Here Is Everything We Know So Far
Apple does not do things quietly in 2026. The company is preparing what may be its most significant iPhone launch since the device was first unveiled and the rumour mills are running at full speed.

The iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max are confirmed for September 2026, launching alongside Apple’s first ever foldable iPhone. The base iPhone 18 and iPhone 18e will not arrive until spring 2027, a significant departure from Apple’s traditional four-model autumn release.
The headline upgrade is the chip. The iPhone 18 Pro models will be powered by Apple’s A20 Pro chip, built on TSMC’s 2nm process; the first iPhone ever to use this node. The move is expected to deliver up to 15 percent faster performance and 30 percent better power efficiency compared to the A19 Pro.
The camera is also set for a meaningful leap, with rumours pointing to a variable aperture lens on the main 48MP camera, allowing users to manually adjust how much light hits the sensor for the first time on any iPhone.
Apple is also introducing its C2 modem, which could enable full satellite internet connectivity through Amazon’s Leo network, allowing iPhone users to browse the web from anywhere on Earth without a cellular signal.
Design changes are subtle, screen sizes remain at 6.3 and 6.9 inches but the Dynamic Island is expected to shrink as some Face ID components move under the display. A new Dark Cherry colour option is also in the works for the Pro models.
All iPhone 18 models, including the foldable, are expected to feature 12GB RAM and the foldable iPhone Fold could carry a price tag upwards of $2,000.
