Porsche Newsroom reports that Porsche has unveiled the new 911 GT4 R, the first car designed for global GT4 racing built on the 911 platform, powered by a 4.0-litre six-cylinder boxer engine delivering up to 382 kW (520 PS), priced at 265,000 euros plus VAT and debuting in the 2027 season.
The 911 GT4 R Inherits Its Engine and Gearbox From the 911 Cup, Replacing the Cayman-Based Predecessor
The car builds on the current Cup version derived from the road-legal 992.2 generation 911 GT3. Compared with the previous 718 Cayman-based Clubsport models, it offers a more powerful engine, wider track widths, and upgraded motorsport electronics.
Power runs through a sequential six-speed dog gearbox with paddle shifters. Under standard BoP air restrictors, output is reduced to 316 kW (430 PS). The car makes extensive use of natural-fibre-reinforced plastic in the doors, engine cover, and cockpit.
Porsche Ranks Third Globally in GT4 and Has Built Over 1,500 Cayman Racing Cars Since 2016
Porsche currently sits third in SRO’s international Manufacturer Ranking as of 19 June 2026. Since entering GT4 in 2016, the brand has produced more than 1,500 Cayman-based racing cars. The new 911 GT4 R extends that lineage to the iconic 911 series for the first time.
