Saudi-Led Coalition Destroys 2 Houthi Missile Launch Platforms in Yemen’s Saada Province

Coalition Strikes Houthi Ballistic Missile Ramps in Northwestern Yemen

Saudi Arabia’s military coalition announced on October 17, 2026, that it successfully destroyed two Houthi ballistic missile launch platforms in Yemen’s northwestern Saada province. Coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki confirmed the strikes via social media, marking a significant tactical blow against the Iran-aligned rebel group’s offensive capabilities. The Express Tribune

The operation comes as Saudi Arabia continues to defend its territory against persistent Houthi aggression, including missile attacks targeting Saudi airports and critical energy infrastructure. Riyadh reaffirmed its inherent right under international law to protect its national security in response to such threats.

Internationally, Saudi Arabia welcomed a United Nations Security Council presidential statement condemning Houthi attacks on the kingdom. The statement, referencing UN Resolution 2216, called on the international community to cooperate with Yemen’s internationally recognised government to prevent the Houthis from acquiring further arms.

The Houthi movement seized Yemen’s capital Sanaa and multiple provinces in September 2014, prompting the Saudi-led coalition to intervene militarily in March 2015 to restore the recognised government. Over a decade later, the conflict continues to pose regional security challenges, with coalition forces remaining actively engaged in neutralising Houthi military assets.
