Asus ROG Strix Scar 18: New Flagship Gaming Laptop Brings 4K 240Hz Display And RTX 5090 To Global Markets This Week
According to Notebookcheck, Asus has quietly released the ROG Strix Scar 18 2026 globally, an 18-inch gaming laptop built for buyers who refuse to compromise on display or power.
The laptop ships with a 4K, 240Hz Mini LED screen hitting 1,600 nits peak brightness in HDR mode, paired with Asus’ new ROG Nebula ELMB technology delivering up to 16x better motion clarity. An 18% higher wattage adapter pushes total system power to 320W, with the Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus topping out at 200W and the GeForce RTX 5080 or RTX 5090 pegged at 175W.
This matters because Asus is signaling that premium gaming laptops are no longer chasing thinness alone, they are chasing raw performance ceilings that rival desktops.
It is heavier than its predecessor and not cheap, with last year’s model already running $2,649. For serious gamers, that tradeoff increasingly looks worth making.
