With 82 Percent Of Jewish Israeli Respondents Backing Forcible Expulsion Of Palestinians And Far-Right Ministers Calling Deal Unacceptable Netanyahu Faces Electoral Disaster If He Accepts Withdrawal Terms
According to Al Jazeera, Hamas agreed on July 30, 2026 to hand over its weaponry in Gaza under a deal brokered by Trump’s “Board of Peace” but the agreement also stipulates that Israel must withdraw from Gaza and gradually transfer power to a Palestinian administration.
While Trump declared Israel was “very happy” with the deal, unnamed Israeli officials told reporters there would be no withdrawal before what Israel determines is “genuine disarmament.” Far-right National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir denounced it as “unacceptable.” Even centrist former chief of staff Gadi Eisenkot called any deal short of Hamas’s total destruction “a total failure.”
A May poll found 82 percent of Jewish Israeli respondents supported the forcible expulsion of Palestinians from Gaza, while 64 percent believed there were “no innocents” among Palestinians there. Several government ministers have openly advocated for settlements in Gaza.
Analyst Nimrod Goren summed it up: Netanyahu “will make sure Trump gets his announcement, his signing ceremony and all the optics are in place, but I don’t see him withdrawing from Gaza.”
