Houthi Missiles Hit King Khalid International Airport in Back-to-Back Strikes Saudi Arabia Vows Decisive Response

Yemen’s Houthi movement has carried out back-to-back missile strikes on King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh, marking the deadliest attacks on Saudi soil in over a decade. Dawn News

The first strike on Saturday, October 10, 2026 killed 12 people and wounded 309. Victims included four Saudis and nationals from Bangladesh, the United States, Egypt, Jordan, Syria, Palestine, and Sudan. A second strike followed on Sunday, killing one Pakistani resident and wounding 11 more as a projectile started a fire on the airport grounds.

Airport operations were suspended following the attacks, with radar and communications equipment reported damaged and runways requiring assessment. The closure was extended through Monday evening. Houthis also claimed strikes on Dammam airport, where flights were delayed, and Saudi forces intercepted additional missiles and drones across the kingdom.

The Houthi movement threatened to continue targeting Saudi transit hubs, describing airports as a “theatre of operations.” Saudi Arabia’s coalition called Saturday’s attack a “full-fledged war crime” and pledged to respond decisively. US President Donald Trump said he was considering joining Saudi strikes against the group.

The attacks came days before Saudi Arabia’s Umrah pilgrimage high season, compounding humanitarian and economic pressure on the kingdom.
