Twelve South, the well-regarded Apple accessories maker, has launched the AirFly Drive; a compact $39.99 adapter that converts wired CarPlay into wireless CarPlay without replacing your vehicle’s infotainment system. MacRumors
The device plugs into any car’s USB data port and uses Wi-Fi to establish a wireless connection between iPhone and vehicle, eliminating the need for a USB-C cable on every journey.
Setup is straightforward: pair your iPhone once, and the AirFly Drive reconnects automatically every time the car starts. No app download, no account creation, and no separate charging are required. A one-press button allows quick switching between two paired iPhones; useful for households sharing a vehicle. The adapter is compatible with any iPhone running iOS 10 or later and works with any car that already supports factory wired CarPlay.
