UN Independent Commission Chair Srinivasan Muralidhar Warned That Palestinian Children Will Not Simply Recover Overnight From The Destruction Of Their Health, Education And Development, While Commissioner Chris Sidoti Stated There Can Be No Doubt That Every International Legal Norm Has Been Violated By Israeli Authorities
According to UN News, a UN Independent International Commission of Inquiry released a report on Tuesday finding that Israeli authorities and security forces have deliberately targeted Palestinian children, resulting in genocide and atrocity crimes in the Gaza Strip and war crimes in the occupied West Bank. The commission documented 20,000 children killed and 44,000 injured since October 7 2023.
The report covers the period following Hamas’ October 2023 attack on Israel, which killed 1,200 people and saw 250 taken hostage, and the subsequent Israeli military campaign in Gaza, which has to date killed more than 70,000 Palestinians.
Commission chair Srinivasan Muralidhar noted that child killings have continued even after the October 2025 ceasefire, with 265 Palestinian children killed since the ceasefire was announced.
The commission documented starvation imposed through blockade, destruction of neonatal and maternity care centres, dismantling of orphanages and schools, and the use of sexual violence against children. Commissioner Chris Sidoti said at a press conference in Geneva there can be no doubt every international legal norm has been violated.
The commission called on Israel to cease all violations and on the international community to prioritise accountability. To check out our previous coverage on the Gaza conflict, read our articles here.
