Adidas Trionda: Sialkot, A City That Supplies Over Two-Thirds Of The World’s Footballs And Has Made Every Official World Cup Match Ball Since Brazil 2014 Is Back At The Centre Of The World’s Biggest Sporting Event, Despite Pakistan Never Having Qualified For The Tournament It Keeps Outfitting
According to Khaleej Times, Samaa TV and Laughing Squid, the official match ball of the FIFA World Cup 2026, the Adidas Trionda is manufactured by Forward Sports at its factory in Sialkot, Pakistan. The name Trionda, derived from the Spanish for “three waves,” is a tribute to the three host nations: the United States, Canada, and Mexico. The ball’s colours reflect the flags of all three countries.
The Trionda features a four-panel design; a departure from the higher panel counts of previous World Cup balls, engineered to improve spin, balance, and energy return.
One of its four panels contains an embedded sensor that tracks ball movement hundreds of times per second, feeding data to AI systems that assist in judging offside calls, deflections, and critical match moments in real time.
Robotic quality control systems and aerodynamic mapping ensure consistency across every match ball produced. Factory owner Khawaja Masood confirmed the facility uses advanced AI-assisted testing to verify uniformity in weight and bounce across thousands of simulated shots before each ball is approved.
Forward Sports previously manufactured the Brazuca (2014), Telstar 18 (2018), and Al Rihla (2022); three consecutive official FIFA World Cup match balls. Sialkot supplies more than two-thirds of the world’s footballs. Pakistan has never qualified for a FIFA World Cup. Every goal scored at one will be with a Pakistani-made ball.
