Iran’s Foreign Minister Araghchi Has Confirmed The 14-Point MOU Calls For A US Blockade Lift, An End To Hostilities Across All Fronts Including Lebanon, And A Non-Aggression Agreement While CENTCOM Reports Iran Launched Drones At Hormuz Commercial Ships Saturday That US Forces Shot Down Before The Deal Was Announced
According to Al Jazeera, the United States and Iran appear close to signing the first stage of a peace deal, but both sides are offering different timelines as to when it will happen.
Trump wrote on Truth Social that after a framework deal is signed, the Strait of Hormuz would immediately be open to all. “The Deal is scheduled to get signed tomorrow, and immediately after it is signed, the Hormuz Strait is OPEN TO ALL,” he posted on Saturday.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said finalisation was expected within 24 hours and that the agreement would be signed electronically. Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baghaei said Sunday was not the day, but added: “The possibility of this happening in the coming days cannot be ruled out.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi confirmed the agreement consists of 14 points; the first being the lifting of the US blockade of Iranian ports. The MOU calls for an end to hostilities across all fronts including Lebanon, and an agreement not to initiate war or use force.
Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu said Trump had assured him any deal would include removal of enriched nuclear material from Iran. Israeli attacks in Lebanon continued Saturday, killing residents in Deir ez-Zahrani, Nabatieh and near Tyre.
CENTCOM said Iran launched multiple one-way attack drones at commercial ships in the Strait of Hormuz on Saturday, all were shot down by US forces. Democratic senator Adam Schiff said: “The President says the war is over. I hope that he is right. But we have heard this before.”
