‘Rogue Planets’ Could Become Key To Habitable Exomoons As Free Moving Planets Are Theorized By Scientists To Have The Capability To Retain Their Moons That Can Sustain Habitability For Billions Of Years
According to an article published by Universe Today on March 28 2026, scientists have researched the enigma surrounding ‘Rogue Planets’ that have the capability to retain their Exomoons that could become key to habitability.
Free-floating planets (FFP) also dubbed as ‘Rogue Planets’ outnumber stars 20:1 which means there are far more rogue planets than previously theorized and discovered.
In a recent study published by researchers of Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich and the Max Planck Institute for Extra-terrestrial Physics (MPG), notably Dr. Giulia Roccetti, it was investigated that hydrogen could act as a potential heat trap that could ensure habitability on some of these exomoons.
In addition to this, it was discovered that with sufficient amount of atmospheric hydrogen, these moons could become conducive for habitable life for billions of years.
