S&P 500 And Nasdaq Futures Jump After Micron Crushes Estimates While Brent Falls 4% To $73
According to Bloomberg, global markets surged early Thursday after Micron Technology’s blowout quarterly sales forecast rekindled confidence in the AI trade, with Nasdaq 100 futures jumping 1.8% and S&P 500 futures rising 0.6% in overnight trading.
South Korea’s Kospi surged as much as 6% and the broader MSCI Asia Pacific Index climbed 1.5%, with Micron shares soaring roughly 15% in after-hours trade after its forecast crushed Wall Street estimates, signalling the AI-fuelled growth cycle remains firmly intact.
Oil meanwhile fell to its lowest levels since early March. Brent crude tumbled 4% to $73 a barrel, while West Texas Intermediate dropped near $70, as tankers resumed navigating the Strait of Hormuz following the US-Iran framework deal.
On the regular session Wednesday, the Dow Jones rose 0.35% to 51,848, while the S&P 500 closed near flat at 5,476 and the Nasdaq slipped 0.18%, as tech stocks faced selling pressure ahead of Micron’s report and the 10-year Treasury yield retreated from nearly 4.5% to 4.398%.
AI answered back, and markets listened. With oil sliding and Micron delivering, Thursday opened with the clearest risk-on signal in weeks.
