IMD Yearbook Shows Qatar Leads Globally On Trade Balance, Unemployment And Savings Rate As Qatar Ranks Top 5 For Economic Resilience
According to Gulf Times, Qatar has ranked first in its region and among the world’s five most resilient economies in the 2026 IMD World Competitiveness Yearbook, delivering strong results across economic, business, institutional, and social indicators amid unprecedented regional challenges.
Qatar ranked first regionally and globally for the balance of trade, and recorded the world’s lowest rates of unemployment, youth unemployment, and long-term unemployment, while maintaining one of the highest national savings rates globally.
Qatar ranks first in the region and second globally for energy infrastructure, first regionally and third globally for health infrastructure, and first regionally and sixth globally for quality of life. It also ranks first regionally and fifth globally for the effectiveness of its justice system and records the world’s second-lowest homicide rate.
Qatar ranks first regionally and globally for the complete absence of personal income tax, consumption tax, capital taxes, property taxes, and social security contributions, and first in the region and fourth globally for entrepreneurship.
“Achieving these results amid unprecedented regional challenges underscores the strength of Qatar’s foundations,” said NPC Secretary General Dr. Abdulaziz bin Nasser bin Mubarak Al Khalifa.
