Iran Warns of Long ‘War of Attrition’ as Middle East Crisis Escalates Further: Civilian Ships Targeted in Strait of Hormuz as 6 Vessels Reportedly Attacked
According to The Guardian, the Middle East Crisis has escalated further as Iran has attacked civilian vessels in its Strait of Hormuz. Reuters reports that 6 vessels have been attacked, many international vessels such as Thai, Japanese and Greek vessels sustained damages. In addition to this, the latest reports confirm that the total number of vessels attacked by Iran has risen up to 16 since the Iranian Conflict began. Two fuel tankers in Iraqi waters have been set ablaze causing the death of at least one crew member.
Some Iranian Officials have warned of a long ‘War of Attrition’ which will destabilize the global economy, causing the global oil prices to spiral as the Strait of Hormuz is responsible for carrying one fifth of the world’s oil.
Iran has comprehensively thwarted Trumps earlier claim that “just about all of (Iran’s) navy is gone.” when he instructed oil companies to use the strait as the plan to re-use the Strait of Hormuz has backfired. Iran has also been consistently defiant in Trump’s claim that the US and Israel have won the war.
