Sindh Government Makes Amendments To Motor Vehicles Act 2026: Third Party Liability Insurance a Must for all Vehicles in Sindh
On March 8, 2026, Sindh Government officially announced amendments to Motor Vehicles Act 2026. The new rule stated that third party liability insurance is mandatory for all registered motor vehicles in Sindh.
The move is aimed at ensuring vehicular safety and compliance as well as to reduce road accidents and enhance safety measures. In addition to this, The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP) recognized the positive move by the Sindh Government and hopes that other provinces also follow suit.
Further, the SECP has operationalized the Motor Insurance Repository (MIR) which is a central electronic database aimed at recording and tracking insurance policies that are registered with the Commission. This will help in digitally tracking vehicles and ensuring that the minimum legal safety requirement is met for all vehicles on the road.
