On Tuesday March 31, 2026: Pakistan And China Issued A 5-Point Initiative To Restore Peace In The Middle East In Which Immediate Cessation Of Hostilities, Security Of Non-Military Targets And Immediate Peace Talks Were Highlighted
According to Dawn News, Pakistan and China have jointly issued a 5-point initiative to restore peace in the Middle East. This development took place after Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar visited Beijing for a one-day trip at the invitation of China’s Foreign Minister Wang Yi, for “in-depth discussions on regional developments”, according to the Foreign Office (FO).
The five points highlighted are as follows: Immediate cessation of hostilities, starting of peace talks as soon as possible, security of non-military targets, security of shipping lanes in the Strait of Hormuz, and lastly the true practice of multilateralism to support the priority of the United Nations and a concluding framework for lasting peace.
In addition to this, bilateral ties and regional developments were also discussed in an “exceptionally warm and cordial atmosphere”.
