The One-Day-Only Promotion Launches Hut Originals. Pizza Hut’s Summer Platform Celebrating Its Most Iconic Food, Fans, And Experiences While The Book It! Reading Program Returns For Kids Pre-K Through Sixth Grade With A New App And Box Tops For Education Partnership
According to People, Food Network, and Pizza Hut’s official press release, Pizza Hut is launching its Summer of Hut Originals, a new platform dedicated to celebrating the food, experiences, and fans that made up the brand’s most iconic moments. In celebration of the launch, Pizza Hut is extending a one-day-only deal for Book It! readers. On June 10, anyone who brings in a Book It! button from any year to a participating location can get a free Personal Pan Pizza.
The Book It! program originated in the mid-1980s, when Arthur Gunther, then-president of Pizza Hut, and Bud Gates, a marketing executive, discussed renewed calls for literacy support from then-President Ronald Reagan. The idea became more fully developed after Gates thought about what would incentivise his own child to get interested in reading and the idea of using pizzas and classroom pizza parties as an incentive was born.
In collaboration with General Mills and Box Tops for Education, Pizza Hut is also helping families raise money for local schools. Customers can earn Box Tops for eligible schools by scanning receipts from Book It! Family Meal; one medium one-topping pizza and two one-topping Personal Pan Pizzas for $14.99.
As summer continues, fans can also expect new fan-favourite menu items at throwback prices, unexpected merch partnerships, and Pizza Hut Classic location experiences, highlighting memories like Book It! and family celebrations across generations.
