Porsche took the Nurburgring EV lap record, lost it, then took it back. And this time they brought Manthey Racing.
The Porsche Taycan Turbo GT equipped with the Manthey Racing performance kit lapped the 20.832km Nordschleife in six minutes and 55.53 seconds, reclaiming the production EV lap record from the Yangwang U9 Xtreme, which previously held the title with a six minute 59.16 second lap.
The Manthey kit transforms the Taycan comprehensively. Power increases by 20kW to 600kW in standard mode, while peak torque rises from 1240Nm to 1270Nm. Activating Attack Mode unlocks an additional 130kW, bringing total output to 730kW.
Aerodynamically, the kit adds a larger rear wing with bigger endplates, a larger front splitter, rear diffuser and rear wheel aerodiscs, pushing downforce from 95kg to 310kg at 200km/h. Lightweight 21-inch forged wheels wrapped in Pirelli P Zero Trofeo RS tyres complete the package, along with front brakes enlarged from 420mm to 440mm with higher performance pads.
The Manthey kit cut approximately 12 seconds from the Taycan’s original 2023 time of seven minutes and 7.55 seconds, which the Rimac Nevera and then the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra had previously displaced.
One footnote worth noting, the 911 GT3 with a Manthey kit lapped in six minutes and 52.98 seconds. It produces almost half the power and one third the torque of the Taycan. Internal combustion still has something to say.
