Gold prices fell in Pakistan’s local market on Tuesday, September 22, with the price of 24-karat gold per tola declining by Rs1,800 to settle at Rs455,736, according to rates issued by the All Pakistan Sarafa Gems and Jewellers Association. The Nation
The price of 10 grams of 24-karat gold decreased by Rs1,543 to Rs390,720, while 10 grams of 22-karat gold fell by Rs1,414 to settle at Rs358,173.
The decline in local gold prices tracked a fall in the international market, where gold dropped by $18 to $4,332 per ounce. Despite Tuesday’s decline, international gold remains at historically elevated levels, having surged through 2025 and 2026 on a combination of Gulf conflict risk premium, central bank buying, a weaker dollar trajectory and persistent inflation in major economies. The current level of $4,332 per ounce represents a price that would have been considered extraordinary as recently as 2024.
Silver prices also fell. The price of silver per tola decreased by Rs62 to settle at Rs7,038, while 10 grams of silver dropped by Rs54 to Rs6,033. In the international market, silver fell by $0.62 to $65.60 per ounce.
In Pakistan, gold prices track international movements closely but are also shaped by the rupee-dollar exchange rate. At the current USD/PKR interbank selling rate of Rs277.41 as of September 22, the local price of gold reflects both the global spot price and the depreciation of the rupee over recent years.
A single session decline of Rs1,800 per tola. At Rs455,736, gold in Pakistan is still trading at a level most buyers could not have anticipated two years ago.
