Benjamin Netanyahu Has Confirmed That Israel Is Set To Hold Talks With Lebanon Next Week In Washington Amid Fragile Ceasefire Between US And Iran. The Next Week Could Decide Whether The Ceasefire Will Continue After Talks Fail Or Succeed In Washington
According to France 24, Israel and Lebanon are set to hold talks towards possible peace and ceasefire. These talks will be held next week in Washington, a State Department Official stated yesterday.
The Department will host the meeting regarding ceasefire and negotiations between the respective nations. At the same time, Benjamin Netanyahu has ordered his ministers to hold talks with Lebanon regarding disarming the Iran-backed Hezbollah.
On the other hand, a Lebanese government official told AFP that Beirut required a truce before entering any negotiations with Israel.
For context, the increasing attacks and invasion of Lebanon has been followed by extensive war crimes and escalations as Lebanese authorities on Wednesday this week said that Israeli strikes killed at least 303 people and wounded 1,150. The escalation in tensions has resulted in prompt reaction by the US to enforce dialogue between Israel and Lebanon in a neutral venue in Washington.
