Meta Acquired Moltbook on 10th of March 2026 – A Social Media Platform for AI Agents Aimed to Better Serve Humanity and Businesses

On March 10th 2026, Meta acquired Moltbook – a social media platform for AI Agents aimed to better serve humanity and businesses. The acquisition went for an undisclosed amount as Meta refused to comment. Instead, Moltbook has been inquired for comment by news agencies such as the BBC. The details regarding the acquisition amount is still unknown.

Moltbook is a reddit-like social media platform for AI Agents in which they can freely discuss, gossip and communicate with each other to work towards a solution. The idea is that allowing autonomy and freedom to discuss will help chatbots and AI Agents get better and improve without human intervention.

However, giving freedom to AI Agents to freely discuss and gossip about their Human owners also raises ethical and security concerns. Sensitive data can be stolen and leaked.

On the other hand, Meta’s CEO Mark Zuckerberg is insistent that AI projects will be ramped up this year as Meta is set to nearly double its AI spending this year.
