According to Forex Factory / FinancialJuice, Pakistan is actively considering resuming stalled US-Iran talks to end their nearly five-month war, following a push by China, according to three Pakistani sources familiar with the discussions.
Exploratory talks took place during Iran’s Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni’s visit to Islamabad this week; his second in just ten days, indicating the intensity and urgency of the diplomatic track being quietly assembled.
The war between the US and Iran began in late February 2026 with American and Israeli strikes. Twelve consecutive nights of US bombing have since followed. The Houthis have declared a Saudi naval blockade, two tankers have been struck in the Red Sea, and oil markets have been in near-constant disruption. A regional mediator willing to bridge Tehran and Washington is one of the most consequential roles in the world right now.
Pakistan sits in a unique position — maintaining a defence pact with Saudi Arabia, border ties with Iran, a historic diplomatic relationship with China, and non-belligerent status in the conflict. China, which brokered the Saudi-Iran normalisation in 2023, appears to be activating that same playbook again.
