Sindh Government announces school holidays on March 11 for both public and private schools on account of Youm-e-Ali (R.A). It is the annual day commemorated to the martyrdom of Hazrat Ali (R.A) on the 21st of Ramadan.
Youm-e-Ali (R.A) in Karachi is usually commemorated by mourning processions which require strict and tight security and excellent traffic management system. To ensure peace and avert chaos, key institutions such as schools are closed which helps in the traffic flow allowing the processions to continue as planned.
