Pakistan Government Decided on Implementing Work-from-home and Distance Learning in a meeting on Thursday last week aligning provinces on Energy Supply Position, Enforcement and Comprehensive Implementation Plan to Save Fuel
Pakistan Government scheduled a Cabinet Committee meeting on the 5th of March, 2026 in response to escalating Iran Conflict. The successful meeting chaired by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif aligned provinces to enact policies on Energy Supply Position, Enforcement and Comprehensive Implementation Plan. In this plan, the government aimed at maximising fuel saving by shifting to work-from-home and distance learning, a similar policy which was enacted during the COVID-19 Pandemic.
According to The Express Tribune as of March 7, 2026, Karachi University has shifted its physical classes to online classes for the last Ashra of Ramadan. Classes are shifted online based on the convenience of students. Iqra University also implements the same policy during its Spring Semesters.
However, the increase in the reconsideration of physical classes for many universities in Karachi raises concerns, not for students’ convenience but rather to save fuel which has only been stocked for 28 days since March 3, 2026 post Strait of Hormuz closure.
