Xbox New Project Labelled Helix Alongside DLSS 5 Announcement To Be A Major Headache For Gamers As Gaming Is About To Get Even More Expensive
According to an article by IGN, Xbox soft announced its project ‘Helix’ console that will also play PC games and will be compete with Sony’s next generation of PlaySation consoles. This all sounds great until we look at the predictable price tag alongside other issues.
Xbox Helix is predicted to cost $700 with some gamers speculating to even be $800. While global inflation is at an all time high, it seems Microsoft’s Xbox is not holding back on making their latest release super expensive. Alongside the price issue from the console, there is also a latest DLSS 5 announcement by NVIDIA which has been NVIDIA’s most controversial announcement.
NVIDIA has received strong backlash over DLSS 5 announcement. Many enthusiasts have compared it to ‘AI Slop’ or AI garbage due to increasing and often invasive use of AI to now even render the most photo-realistic version of characters, lighting, environments etc.
This heightened backlash doesn’t just come from the use of AI in just about everything but also its consequences. It is reported that RAM shortage is predicted to last until 2030 due their increase use in AI data centres which has skyrocketed its prices.
For context, the inflation is so bad that memes have circulated with the caption ‘2 Sticks of RAM Cost $900 Because of This BTW’ under social media posts that have allegedly used AI.
The future of Gaming is uncertain and worrisome however it is good to see mounting pressure from the public which brings hope that large corporations like NVIDIA may turn away from excessive AI integration and implementation (like the DLSS 5) as well as overpricing of Gaming Accessories and Consoles.
