Shehbaz Sharif Has Invited Chinese Firms To Expand Investment In Pakistan’s Renewable Energy And Electric Vehicle Sectors During His Hangzhou Visit

Chinese Firms’ $65 Billion Already Committed, A $10 Billion Agri-Trade Target On The Table, And 75 Years Of Diplomatic Relations Being Leveraged; Pakistan Is Doubling Down On The China Bet

According to Arab News PK, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday invited Chinese firms to expand investment in Pakistan’s renewable energy and electric vehicle sectors during high-level meetings in Hangzhou. The talks focused on energy storage, solar-linked solutions, EV charging infrastructure, smart mobility systems, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

China has already pledged over $65 billion in Pakistani infrastructure and development projects. Sharif used the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference to set a new target; a $10 billion increase in agri-products trade within the next five to seven years. Pakistan sent 1,000 agricultural graduates to China for training last year. Thirty percent of bilateral MOUs have already been converted into binding agreements.

This is not a courtesy call. It is a deliberate pivot. With Pakistan bolstered by a $7 billion IMF program and a 240-million-person consumer market, Islamabad is selling Chinese capital on long-term industrial integration during the 75th anniversary of the two countries’ diplomatic relations. The signal is unmistakable: Pakistan’s economic future runs through Beijing.
