Qatar’s 9th Scientific Exhibition Has Honoured Student Innovators From 61 Finalist Projects Spanning AI, Parkinson’s Detection, Cybersecurity And Sustainable Smart Homes

Qatar’s 9th Scientific Exhibition: From 290 Submissions Down To 61 Finalists. The Doha-Based Competition Just Showed Exactly What Qatar National Vision 2030 Looks Like In The Hands Of Students

According to The Peninsula Qatar, the Qatar Scientific Club has honoured the winners of the 9th Scientific Exhibition for Innovation and Research, organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Sixty-one projects advanced to the final round from nearly 290 submissions that passed through multiple evaluation and judging stages. The numbers matter. They show a pipeline, not a one-off event.

The exhibition ran across two days at four educational levels; primary, preparatory, secondary “Researcher,” and secondary “Innovation.” Representatives from the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and the Ministry of Sports and Youth attended alongside school administrators, supervisors and participating students. Gold medal recipients and winning teams were honoured at the closing ceremony, with organisers publicly recognising the judging committees and technical teams that handled evaluation.

The winning projects in the exhibition are not toy demonstrations. In the school Innovation competition, first place went to “Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning for User Behaviour Analysis in Cybersecurity,” developed by Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School for Boys.

That is a working application of behavioural-analytics methodology to threat detection. Second place went to NeuroStride, an AI-driven system for the early detection of Parkinson’s disease. Third place went to an integrated robotic system with an automatic soil-feeding mechanism, built by a Qatar school for girls.

The Researcher competition at the secondary level was won by an “Automated Irrigation System Using Open-Source Technology”; water security applied through public-domain engineering. Second place went to a study on detecting myopia using neural networks. Third went to a technological system designed to reduce impulsive behaviour among people with autism.

The preparatory level produced Rafi in the exhibition, a first-place project supporting communication for children with Down syndrome using AI. Second place went to a system converting sign language into written and spoken language. Third went to a project on safe vehicle speed control with emergency health alerts.

At the primary level, the winning entry designed a sustainable smart home integrating renewable energy, AI and smart agriculture. Bioplastic from bananas took second. The Drink Link smart project took third.

This is the substance of Qatar National Vision 2030 made tangible. The pillars; human development, knowledge economy, social progress, environmental management are not abstractions when a teenager is shipping cybersecurity behavioural analytics or a primary student is integrating renewables into a domestic system.

Deputy Executive Director of the Qatar Scientific Club, Abdulrahman Saleh Khamis, framed the competition’s purpose as transforming student ideas into models and applied projects, preparing a generation capable of supporting the knowledge economy.

The verdict is straightforward. While many regional education events generate ceremonial press releases, this one produced a measurable funnel; 290 in, 61 finalists, 12 podium positions across four levels, every project mapped to a real-world domain, all within the exhibition.

The choice of categories is also telling. Cybersecurity, neurology, robotics, accessibility tech, sustainability, water security, autism support. These are not optional fields. They are the disciplines that will determine whether the Gulf transitions from a hydrocarbon economy to a knowledge economy on schedule.

Qatar has been investing heavily in research infrastructure for over a decade. The 9th Scientific Exhibition is what that investment looks like at the student level. The next question is whether the pipeline scales: how many of these winners reach university research labs, how many spin out into startups, and how many file patents. That is the real metric of Vision 2030; not the ceremonies, but the careers that follow them.
