Einstein Bros. Bagels Will Surpass 1,000 US Locations by 2030 as the $5.8 Billion Bagel Category Grows 5% Annually
Fox Business reports that Einstein Bros. Bagels announced plans to open more than 300 new bakeries across the US by 2030, which will push America’s largest retail bagel chain past 1,000 total locations as the US bagel category reaches $5.8 billion in annual market value and grows at roughly 5% per year.
The Expansion Will Be Powered by a New “Elevate the Morning” Store Prototype Designed for Speed, Freshness, and a Neighbourhood-Feel Layout
The new bakeries will use Einstein Bros.’ “Elevate the Morning” store prototype, which combines upgraded finishes, a neighbourhood feel and an easier layout, with the fresh-baked case positioned at the front and centre. The full menu will be available at all new locations, including fresh-baked bagels, egg sandwiches, handcrafted coffee, cold brew, and catering.
Under-35 Rewards Members Drove a 22% Year-Over-Year Increase in Store Visits, With the Chain Baking More Than 150 Million Bagels Annually
CEO Jessica DePetro said “Americans have voted with their mornings, and the data is clear: bagels are winning,” citing younger consumers as a key growth driver — customers under 35 in Einstein Bros.’ rewards programme drove a 22% year-over-year increase in store visits. The chain currently bakes more than 150 million bagels annually across its 700-plus locations.
In a fast-casual landscape littered with struggling chains, Einstein Bros. is growing into breakfast dominance one bagel at a time. The numbers back the ambition. Check out our previous coverage of retail and business news here.
