Iran Attacks Five Gulf Nations: The IRGC Strikes Al Udeid in Qatar, Duqm Port in Oman, Prince Hassan Airbase in Jordan, US Sites in Kuwait and Bahrain Shutting 20 Percent of Global Energy Flow Until “End of US Interference”
Iran launched missile and drone attacks on five Gulf states and declared the Strait of Hormuz closed after the United States conducted its third round of strikes in a week, in a serious escalation as the ongoing conflict spirals. Al Jazeera
Tehran on Sunday claimed attacks on Bahrain, Kuwait, Jordan, Qatar and Oman, calling them its response to renewed US bombings on cities along its southern coast.
The IRGC claimed a “heavy and surprise” attack on the port of Duqm in Oman used as a US aircraft carrier logistics hub and said it “destroyed” the site. In Qatar, the IRGC targeted Al Udeid airbase with ballistic missiles, claiming to have destroyed a fighter plane maintenance centre and a command-and-control centre.
Iran’s army used explosive drones to hit a Patriot air defense system and ammunition depot in Kuwait, and a US communications and radar site in Bahrain. Prince Hassan Airbase in Jordan was struck with ballistic missiles, the IRGC said.
US CENTCOM said its third round of strikes hit about 140 military targets that “included Iranian missile and drone sites, naval capabilities, ammunition storage facilities, communication networks, and coastal surveillance locations,” and said more than 300 targets were struck over the course of three nights.
The strait will remain closed until “the end of US interference in this region,” the IRGC said. The narrow-yet-vital waterway hosts 20 percent of global energy flow. Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned: “The era of one-sided deals is over.”
The Strait of Hormuz is not a military target; it is a chokepoint for the entire global economy. Twenty percent of all traded energy flows through it. Closing it is not a battle tactic; it is an act of economic warfare aimed at every nation on Earth that buys oil and gas.
