Nvidia Reported $81.62 Billion In Q1 Revenue; Up 85 Percent In A Year And Bitcoin Miners Tied To AI Infrastructure Immediately Rose On The News

$91 Billion Forecast For Q2. An $80 Billion Buyback. A Dividend That Rose From 1 Cent To 25 Cents Per Share. And Nvidia’s Stock Still Fell 1.5 Percent Because Wall Street Was Already Looking Past The Numbers.

According to CoinDesk, Nvidia reported first-quarter revenue of $81.62 billion on Wednesday, May 20, up 85 percent from $44.06 billion in the same quarter a year earlier, beating Wall Street’s estimate of $78.9 billion. Adjusted earnings came in at $1.87 per share, above analyst expectations of $1.76. The company forecast roughly $91 billion in revenue for the current quarter.

Nvidia’s board authorized an additional $80 billion in stock buybacks and raised the quarterly dividend from 1 cent per share to 25 cents per share. Data center demand is now so dominant that the company reorganised its reporting into two segments: Data Center and Edge Computing. Data centre revenue now accounts for more than 90 percent of Nvidia’s total revenue. The company noted that its Q2 outlook excludes any data centre compute revenue from China.

Bitcoin miners with exposure to AI and high-performance computing infrastructure rose modestly in after-hours trading. Shares of Core Scientific and Cipher Mining each climbed as investors viewed certain miners as potential beneficiaries of growing data centre and HPC demand; a theme that has strengthened throughout 2025 and 2026 as miners increasingly reposition their computing infrastructure toward AI workloads.

Despite beating on revenue, earnings and guidance simultaneously, Nvidia’s stock fell approximately 1.5 percent. The market is looking past the quarter at a horizon where competition for AI chips is growing and Nvidia’s dominant position faces increasing pressure.
