Four Killed Including Woman and Three Children as Pre-Monsoon Rains Collapse Mud Houses Across Balochistan

Roof Collapses in Zhob and a Child’s Death in Khuzdar Mark the Start of Monsoon Season as Flash Floods Destroy Crops, Roads and Power Supply Across Multiple Districts

According to Dawn, four people; a woman and three children were killed and more than a dozen others injured after the roofs of two mud houses collapsed in Zhob district of Balochistan as heavy pre-monsoon rains lashed the province on July 3, 2026.

The fatal incidents occurred near Bacha Khan School and in Shamsi Colony in Zhob, where the weight of rainfall caused two mud-roof homes to cave in completely. Rescue teams recovered the bodies from the debris and shifted the injured; several in critical condition, to Zhob District Headquarters Hospital, with serious cases referred to Quetta for specialist treatment.

In a separate incident, a child was killed and four others injured in Khuzdar district after heavy thunderstorms damaged mud structures and uprooted trees across the area.

The rains triggered flash floods that damaged inter-district roads, wiped out standing crops in Jaffarabad, Jhal Magsi, Dera Murad Jamali and surrounding districts, and inundated low-lying residential areas, forcing residents to evacuate. Power supply was suspended across multiple districts including Quetta. Rainfall continued across Zhob, Loralai, Musakhail, Qila Saifullah, Ziarat and Muslim Bagh.

Balochistan’s mud-built housing stock and chronically under-resourced PDMA infrastructure mean every monsoon season begins the same way; with preventable deaths. The disaster response arrives after the debris is already settled.
