Google Health 5.0: Four New Tabs. A Chatbot That Adjusts Your Training When You Tell It You Are Too Tired. Medical Record Upload. And The End Of Sleep Animals, Community Feeds And Food Plans.
According to TechRepublic, starting May 19, Google began rolling out version 5.0 of the Fitbit app under the Google Health name: Google Health 5.0 with full availability expected by May 26. The update reorganises the app, adds Gemini-powered coaching for Premium subscribers, introduces a more flexible weekly cardio target, and removes several familiar Fitbit features.
The update alters the core architecture of the app. Users with a connected Fitbit or Pixel Watch will see the interface streamlined into four distinct tabs: Today, Fitness, Sleep, and Health. The Gemini-powered Health Coach will offer personalised insights, acting as a combination fitness coach, sleep expert, and health and wellness advisor. Premium subscriptions cost $9.99 per month or $99 per year, though Google AI Pro and AI Ultra subscribers receive the service as part of their existing plans.
The new Google Health 5.0 app is designed to pull together data from wearable devices, Health Connect, Apple HealthKit, and users’ medical records into a unified dashboard, meaning activity, sleep, nutrition and clinical records are visible in one place.
Google said the coach can provide personalised workout recommendations, answer health questions, summarise medical records, and adapt fitness plans based on user activity and wellness data.
Features removed in the update include monthly sleep animals, the Community Feed and Groups, the ability to send direct messages, Food Plans with calorie targets and recipes, and stress-check graphs. Google is also shutting down its older Google Fit app later this year, marking a full consolidation of its health platforms.
