IRGC Claims Camp Arifjan, Ali Al Salem Air Base And Sheikh Isa Air Base Struck As Kuwait’s Desalination Plant Takes Its Second Hit In 48 Hours
According to Reuters, Iran launched sustained attacks on Washington’s Gulf allies on July 18; a seventh straight night after US forces hit Iranian military sites including logistics facilities, surveillance infrastructure, underground weapons storage and maritime capabilities, escalating the conflict one week after a fragile ceasefire collapsed.
Kuwait came under the heaviest assault. A power generation and water desalination plant was struck; the second attack on Kuwaiti water infrastructure in two days and operations at Kuwait International Airport were suspended due to repeated missile and drone threats. Iran’s IRGC said it struck the US military support centre at Camp Arifjan and destroyed a radar facility at Ali Al Salem Air Base.
In Bahrain, the IRGC targeted Sheikh Isa Air Base where US combat aircraft were gathered, and destroyed an intelligence data centre. In Jordan, Iran claimed to have destroyed at least two US fighter aircraft and three other aircraft at Al Azraq Base.
Iran’s Revolutionary Guards also attacked a US drone depot in Bahrain and destroyed what it described as Bahrain’s main AI centre using ballistic missiles and drones.
Iran’s Health Ministry reported 50 people killed and more than 500 injured in US strikes over the past three weeks. Oil prices climbed more than 4% on Friday to their highest level in more than a month, applying growing political pressure on President Trump as his Republican Party faces November congressional elections.
One week after the ceasefire fell apart, both sides are now targeting each other’s infrastructure; desalination plants, airports, AI centres, and power grids. The distinction between military and civilian targets is narrowing fast, and no off-ramp is currently in view.
