Trump Orders DOJ Leak Probe After Media Reports Reveal Depleted US Munitions Stockpiles, Calls Sources “Treasonous” And Threatens Long Jail Sentences

According to Al Jazeera and WSJ, US President Donald Trump has ordered a Justice Department investigation into officials leaking classified information on US munitions stockpiles after multiple major outlets reported dangerous depletion levels five months into the Iran war.

Reuters and CBS News reported the US military had burned through nearly all of its Army Tactical Missile Systems and Precision Strike Missiles. CNN separately reported critically low levels of Patriot and THAAD interceptors with experts warning there is no viable short-term alternative and that replenishment of pre-war stockpiles could take years.

Six senior US officials including at least one White House official told CNN that Trump had described the leaks as “treasonous,” while White House officials speculated the information was coming from anti-war members of the administration seeking to prevent further escalation with Iran.

Trump posted on Truth Social: “The US has massive amounts of ‘munitions,’ especially of certain types. The ‘leakers’ of these treasonous statements are being hunted down. Long term jail sentences will be sought!” The administration is separately seeking $67 billion in emergency funding, including $21 billion to replace depleted munitions stockpiles.

Gulf leaders have expressed concern that low Patriot and THAAD interceptor stocks could weaken their ability to intercept Iranian missiles and drones if the conflict escalates further.

Trump says there is no shortage. The $21 billion replacement request says otherwise. Check out our previous coverage of the US-Iran war on The Trusted Times.
