According to GSMArena, Week 36 delivered some of the year’s most significant smartphone leaks and launches, with Apple, Samsung, Poco and Xiaomi all generating major headlines ahead of a busy September.
The biggest leak concerned the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max colour lineup ahead of Apple’s September 9 event. A new tipster claims the duo will launch in Dark Cherry, Sky Blue and Black with Dark Cherry, a wine-red/purple shade, replacing Cosmic Orange as the headline finish. Black makes a return after skipping the iPhone 17 Pro, while Silver may be dropped despite earlier dummy unit sightings.
Samsung’s Galaxy S27 Ultra camera strategy came into focus: the phone is expected to consolidate its four-lens rear system into three, with the zoom slot taken by a new 4x periscope carrying a large 1/1.9-inch sensor; larger than the iPhone 17 Pro’s equivalent and a deliberate middle ground between Samsung’s current 3x and 5x telephoto approach.
Poco officially unveiled the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra, both carrying 185Hz AMOLED displays, 200MP main cameras and Bose-tuned audio. The Ultra pairs the full Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 with an 8,050mAh battery and a 2.1-channel speaker system including a dedicated rear subwoofer. Poco’s pricing has climbed significantly: £799 for the Pro, £899 for the Ultra.
Xiaomi unveiled the 18 Fold at IFA 2026 with its new 3nm XRing O3 chipset. Vivo’s X500 Pro Max leaked with a rotating camera ring bearing ISO markings.
