AMD Ryzen AI MAX Pro 400 Series: 192GB Unified Memory. 160GB VRAM. 55 TOPS NPU. 5.2GHz Boost. The PRO 490 And 485 Keep The Older 8050S Graphics And Miss The 55 TOPS Rating. ASUS, HP And Lenovo Are The Launch Partners.
According to Videocardz and confirmed by AMD, the Ryzen AI MAX PRO 400 series codenamed Gorgon Halo will launch through OEM partners in the third quarter of 2026, with HP and Lenovo already confirmed by AMD as platform partners. ASUS has also been named as a launch partner for Q3 2026 systems.
Contrary to earlier leaks suggesting all SKUs would receive updated graphics, the Radeon 8065S upgrade is limited exclusively to the Ryzen AI Max+ PRO 495. This flagship SKU carries 16 Zen 5 cores, 32 threads, 80MB of cache and 40 RDNA 3.5 Compute Units. The iGPU runs at 3.0GHz; a 100MHz improvement over the previous generation, marking the first Halo chip to hit that clock milestone. The CPU itself boosts to 5.2GHz, also 100MHz higher than its predecessor.
The Ryzen AI Max PRO 490 and Ryzen AI Max PRO 485 both retain the older Radeon 8050S graphics with 32 Compute Units, and neither reaches the 55 TOPS NPU performance threshold. Both are rated at up to 50 TOPS, while the 495 achieves up to 55 TOPS.
AMD also announced an upgraded Ryzen AI Halo developer platform that will arrive later this year with the MAX PRO 400 series chips, supporting up to 192GB unified memory and 160GB VRAM. The previous Strix Halo generation maxed out at 128GB, making the 192GB ceiling a meaningful step for enterprise users and developers running large language models locally. The PRO 495 is positioned explicitly for on-device AI workloads; developers running 300 billion parameter models locally without cloud dependency. For everyone else, the PRO 490 and 485 are a modest spec refresh.
